What Is Muay Thai?
Muay Thai is the national sport of Thailand, known as "the art of eight limbs" because it uses fists, elbows, knees, and shins. On top of the punches and kicks you'd learn in kickboxing, it adds knees, elbows, and the clinch, making it the most complete striking system we teach. It builds agility, endurance, and genuinely practical self-defense skill, because it covers more fighting range than almost any other martial art.
How Our Classes Work
Boxing, kickboxing, and Muay Thai students train together in the same class. Everyone shares the warm-up, footwork, and bag work, then each person trains their own style with coaches on the floor. Muay Thai students learn the full toolkit, and in partner drills they're always paired with other Muay Thai students, so kicks, knees, elbows, and clinch work are practiced with someone who trains them too.
You get the energy of a full class, and your partner work always matches what you're there to learn.

What Your First Muay Thai Class Looks Like
- Warm-up. Movement and footwork to get loose and focused.
- Stance and footwork. The Muay Thai stance, balance, and how to move in and out of range.
- Technique. One skill at a time: the jab, the teep (push kick), the roundhouse kick, knees, and elbows.
- Pads and bags. Put the technique to work on Thai pads and heavy bags.
- Conditioning. Finish with work that builds the gas tank Muay Thai is known for.
It's mostly fundamentals. You'll sweat, you'll learn something real, and you won't spar.

Muay Thai FAQ
Is Muay Thai good for beginners?
Yes. Most people who walk into Wolfpack have never trained before. Coaches start with stance, footwork, and basic strikes, and build from there one skill at a time. No experience is needed.
Do I need to be in shape to start Muay Thai?
No. Muay Thai is one of the best ways to get in shape, and coaches scale every drill to your level. Conditioning comes from showing up consistently, not from arriving already fit.
What's the difference between Muay Thai and kickboxing?
Kickboxing uses punches and kicks. Muay Thai adds knees, elbows, and clinch work, which is why it's called the art of eight limbs. It's the more complete striking style, and many students train both.
Is Muay Thai good for self-defense?
Yes. Muay Thai trains you at every striking range, from kicking distance to the clinch, and builds the balance, awareness, and composure that matter most in a real situation.
Will I have to spar in my first Muay Thai class?
No. Your first class is fundamentals: warm-up, technique, and pad and bag work. Nobody is thrown into sparring on day one.
How old do you have to be to take Muay Thai?
Muay Thai classes at Wolfpack are for ages 13 and up. Kids ages 5–12 can start with our kids classes, which teach boxing and kickboxing fundamentals.
What should I bring to my first Muay Thai class?
Comfortable workout clothes, water, and a towel. Gloves and wraps are available to borrow for your first class.
How much do Muay Thai classes cost in Miami?
